We’ve often talked about the importance of head, heart, and hands in leadership. It’s a framework that reminds us leaders need knowledge, character, and skill. But our aim isn’t just sufficiency in these areas; it’s mastery. We want leaders who are brilliant in the basics, who don’t just practice habits, but master them. It’s through this mastery that breakthroughs happen.
Leadership is about growth, and growth is deeply tied to the Creation Covenant. God’s call to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion means we’ve been entrusted with a kingdom to steward. But we’re not sovereigns, we’re ambassadors of Christ’s rule, extending it through how we lead.
Think of a child mastering their body, or an athlete striving to be the best. That’s what we’re called to in leadership. Mastery in our head—knowledge and wisdom. Mastery in our heart—character and integrity. Mastery in our hands—skills and abilities. It’s about extending our platform, not for our fame, but to broaden our capacity to carry responsibility and spread the Kingdom.
We don’t pursue mastery to compete, but to contribute. When we grow in head, heart, and hands, we increase the influence of the Kingdom of God through our lives. That’s the kind of leadership we’re after—mastery that extends the rule of Christ in the world.
