Over the years, my journey with prayer has been transformative. While I’ve always been a praying person, there were barriers that I struggled to understand. Prayer, in its essence, is one of the most fundamental aspects of our relationship with the Lord, yet it remained a mystery to me for a long time. I found myself wrestling with questions about why we pray if God is sovereign, and whether my struggles in prayer were due to a lack of love for the Father.
As I continued to seek answers, I realized that my ambition played a significant role in this struggle. My ambitions often drove me to focus on what I didn’t have or what hadn’t been accomplished yet, even if those ambitions were aligned with biblical desires. This constant striving created a sense of discontentment that hindered my prayer life.
The turning point came when I recognized the difference between ambition and passion.
Ambition is often rooted in a desire for what we lack.
Passion is fueled by gratitude for what we have been given.
When I shifted my focus to gratitude, I found a new sense of contentment and joy in prayer.
This shift allowed me to approach God with thankfulness, trusting Him with the outcomes and finding joy in the journey rather than being frustrated by what hadn’t yet come to pass.
This transformation in my perspective has consistently changed my prayer life, and it can change yours too. Embrace gratitude, find contentment, and let your passion for what God has given you ignite your prayers.
