Caleb and Joshua believed the Lord could fight for them in the face of overpowering adversaries. The difference between the view of the 10 and the 2 was simple. The 10 were asking what could they do. The 2 were asking why can’t God do.
The punishment for their unbelief was 40 years of wondering in the wilderness. Two men, Joshua and Caleb, were pleading with their brothers to take the land and believe the Lord have given it into their hands. Yet the voice of the ten, who were afraid, took the day and influenced the people to unbelief.
As much as I hate to say it, unbelief spreads much, much, easier than faith. Skepticism and doubt are the easiest route because it cost you nothing in the moment. Saying no to responsibility is always easier than saying yes. Yet, Joshua and Caleb stayed faithful, believing the Lord and his promise of the land.
45 years later... at 85 years old Joshua and Caleb were still fighting as if they were in their forties! Caleb, after fighting for 5 years in the promised land under the leadership of Joshua requested hardest fight in the land that still remained. The giants he had seen 45 years before he wanted to defeat for his own tribe. He was now 85 years old and nothing had made his faith in God's promise waiver. Joshua sent him and Caleb took so much land, Joshua required Caleb to give some to another tribe.
What makes you waiver on the promises of our God?
Time? Inability? Resources? Fear? Frustration? Distraction?
45 years. 45 YEARS! and he fought with the vigor of a young man. Caleb was resolute in his trust that what God promises, God will accomplish, as we ought.
Until there's #NoPlaceLeft...
